Thoth (/θoʊθ, toʊt/; from Koinē Greek: Θώθ thṓth, borrowed from Coptic: Ⲑⲱⲟⲩⲧ, the reflex of Ancient Egyptian: ḏḥwtj "[He] is like the Ibis") is an ancient Egyptian deity. In art, he was often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or a baboon, animals sacred to him.
The Greeks conflated Thoth with Hermes because they share some similarities — they're both gods associated with language and the written word, and both have a deep association with magic. The Egyptian city “Hermopolis” is called that in Greek, because it was the center of Thoth's cult.
that's interesting
