Yeah---agree! Out of curiosity, what kinds of things do you use to work on melodies nowadays? I've been doing some real thinking about what platforms/methods are the most accessible for composing so I'm interested to hear what you think.
I tend to work in online sequencer most. After really looking at it's editor I found it's a lot more powerful than I first thought! It also got an update not too long ago as well
I make a base melody there and use other instruments to form tracks. I then export the midi into LMMS for better instrument quality!
I find LMMS hard to work in personally, it's editor layout just isn't my cup of tea you could say? "^^ But it is free, and a software so it works without internet, which can be handy sometimes!

I love online sequencer---I use that editor with this one to copy and paste notes! I'll certainly look into LMMS; I haven't heard of it before.
