I was wondering if anyone could recommend, or dis-recommend, a 30-note model? It seems they are 'almost' chromatic but not quite, is that right? If so, is there a truly chromatic model, without going to huge expense? I'm in the UK, so UK suppliers would be ideal but elsewhere if necessary.
I don't know about the quality of different 30-notes music box manufacturers, but I think they all come with the same notes, so don't worry about that. When you compose melodies there are 2 options for 30 notes: "Grand Illusions 30" and "Grand Illusions 30 (F scale)". Both options are for the same music box (Grand Illusions only sells one model of 30 notes). The difference is that with "F scale" you get the real tone: what you play in the composer is in the same tone of the music box. If you don't chose the F option while composing, real melody will be in another tone, but will sound OK.

How is the Grand Illusions 30-note, for example?
