Questions on Speed and note timing: I'm installing the music box (connected to a 28ybg-48 stepper motor via ULN3003 Driver and Arduino NANO processor) in a very small box enclosure with no external slot. The paper tape will be a small loop. I'm using direct connection to the crankshaft, the ,max speed is approx 1 rev/2 seconds. So I have a problem with timing, as the tape moves too slow, Because the motorized music box will be installed in a small, sealed enclosure, I want to use a short, looped tape. I have a 3d printer and successfully created gears, so I could add to the music-box mechanism to change the ratio, but this will affect torque since the stepper unit is already at a 64-1 gear ratio. So instead of adjusting speed & power of the rollers with a modified gear-train, I'm experimenting changing note timing by adjusting space /density of the punches. I punched music so a whole note is a half column on the the paper strip. Problem is, not all the notes are playing. Is this due to cog spacing, and they can not realign to the denser data? Any Suggestions?
Hi there. It sounds like you are making an awesome project! Unfortunately, by design most of the DIY music boxes can't play repetitive notes if they are located too close to each other. Such repetitive notes are marked with red color both in the editor and on the exported PDF templates. I'm afraid there isn't much you can do about it. At least I personally haven't heard of any solution to that problem.
STEPPERMOTOR.FR motors to meet the needs of different customers and different applications are now available Stepper gear motors, Nema 17 gear motor and so on.

You must change your stepper to 1/1 ratio (without gear)...
