After just a couple used the plastic gears connecting the winder to the box start squeaking. Not sure how to remedy plastic gear squeaking. Any suggestions (besides getting a new one cause this thing was expensive to import :s)?
Use a proper sort of lubrication. Don't use oil, but use lubrication made for sewing machines. Dirt and dust doesn't get clogged into it an it makes small mechanisms runs smooth because it has been created specifically for that. It worked great for me :)
Also, if you gears ever break or get worn out, you can order replacement gears. Your options vary based on where you live though. Grand Illusions sells replacement gears, but that only works if you live in europe. You can also buy copper gears on amazon, but copper gears make more noise.
But as I said before - proper lubricant will most likely solve your woes.
