This is a very newbie question, so apologies up front. I'm working with a very long, uncut roll of music for a 30-note player, and I'm wondering if there's a safe, easy way to remove a bit of roll without cycling through the whole thing. Basically, I want to test out the notes at the front, but then remove it without having to churn through all the blank material. Is there a release catch I'm missing?
Unfortunately I don't think so. Usually what I do is mark all the measures in advance and then cut the paper where the end of the song will be to avoid having to cycle through the whole roll.

I have also been looking for the same solution, but I do not think it is possible looking at the actual music box itself.

make drafts using cheap replacement pper, only transfering the notes to the band when satisfied.
