There is one piece of my 30-note music boxes that breaks most frequently... it's one specific gear with tiny teeth (see photo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10s3RDm31qh94teXnkbElf9UCoqYc-cGa/view?usp=sharing ) I've looked for where you can buy just the plastic gears, but haven't found anything on Amazon. They offer copper gears, but those are too noisy. I tried buying a 15-note music box to cannibalize its gear, but the teeth are different.
Anybody know of a source to buy just the plastic gears?
Helo @MusicBoxRox! I don't know where to buy a set of plastic gears, and I also have some machines that I can't use with the crank due to broken plastic gears. I was thinking on sketching them to have the 3D model and print them. I have very strong plastic roll (Polycarbonate) and a tiny nozzel (0.25 mm) to 3D-print them with detail (there are nozzles down to 0.15 mm). If I success with my experiment, I'll share my results here and also the 3D models. If you don't have 3D printer, maybe a friend does. Regards, Fran
Hello, I anticipate mine breaking as well and I discovered this product on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Wingostore-Notes-Movement-Copper-Replacement/dp/B07DG83FYS/ I imagine copper gears are far less prone to breaking - maybe you can try them out and let the rest of us know how it goes? It's certainly easier than 3d printing.
I see my link was removed, but you can easily find it again by searching "wingostore copper gear replacement" and it should be the first result on amazon
Right, OP said they know about the copper ones, but feels they're too noisy.
I can't help but ironically I had the reverse problem - the tiny plastic gear on my 15-note box was stripped and I tried using the copper replacement gears for the 30-note and yeah, the construction is just different enough that I couldn't get the copper ones onto my kit. Not helpful but I feel your frustration with the gear issues.

Did you find any success with 3D printing the cogs @alfarofran?
