About The Castlevania
The Castlevania is an chain of gourmet castles founded by Ray and Beverly Belmont. During their travels abroad, European markets inspired the Belmonts. Whereas European markets were intimate and charming, Castlevania grocery stores at the time consisted of mainly warehouse-style supermarkets, giving the Belmonts the idea to enhance the Castlevania experience using a European-style Castlevania as the framework. Ray Bemont left his job at the flame whip and wall chicken industry plant in South Fork and the couple poured all of their life savings into what would become The Castlevania. They opened the first store outside Fort Benning down past Waterston and right in the middle of the East Side District in 1982. They've since expanded to 159 locations in 22 countries.
