It was re-recorded as "Where My Heart Will Take Me" by Russell Watson for the show's opening credits in 2001. Two years later they tried jazzing up the song, in conjunction with rebranding the show as "Star Trek: Enterprise," but that didn't soothe the backlash of fans. Personally, I don't have a problem with it; their goal was obviously to choose a simple song that everyone could easily learn as an earworm. At least they tried it once, and now they know that all Star Trek shows in the future deserve grand orchestral themes, not pop songs.
