There is one piece of my 30-note music boxes that breaks most frequently... it's one specific gear with tiny teeth (see photo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10s3RDm31qh94teXnkbElf9UCoqYc-cGa/view?usp=sharing ) I've looked for where you can buy just the plastic gears, but haven't found anything on Amazon. They offer copper gears, but those are too noisy. I tried buying a 15-note music box to cannibalize its gear, but the teeth are different.
Anybody know of a source to buy just the plastic gears?
Questions on Speed and note timing: I'm installing the music box (connected to a 28ybg-48 stepper motor via ULN3003 Driver and Arduino NANO processor) in a very small box enclosure with no external slot. The paper tape will be a small loop. I'm using direct connection to the crankshaft, the ,max speed is approx 1 rev/2 seconds. So I have a problem with timing, as the tape moves too slow, Because the motorized music box will be installed in a small, sealed enclosure, I want to use a short, looped tape. I have a 3d printer and successfully created gears, so I could add to the music-box mechanism to change the ratio, but this will affect torque since the stepper unit is already at a 64-1 gear ratio. So instead of adjusting speed & power of the rollers with a modified gear-train, I'm experimenting changing note timing by adjusting space /density of the punches. I punched music so a whole note is a half column on the the paper strip. Problem is, not all the notes are playing. Is this due to cog spacing, and they can not realign to the denser data? Any Suggestions?
Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my first music box creation.. I've punched out the holes on my paper strip but when I play my melody through the music box it sounds all wrong, like it's in a minor key or something. I've double checked the notation and I can't see any errors.. the timing of the music is perfect but the melody is way off. Any ideas where I could be going wrong? Any help appreciated.
Under the "Features" heading on the main page is something called "Shift, expand and narrow notes options". I can find nothing that describes these or how to use them, including in this forum. I am working on a large-scale project where I plan to cut tune sheets using a laser cutter which will allow me to create non-circular (oval or even rectangular) holes. The tune has several repeated eighth notes which may be problematic for proper repetition. Could a "narrow" note option (oval vs. round) be the solution for this? Where can I find the documentation of this feature?
I am new to music box and i would like to learn to make my own arrangements. As such, I am planning to get a 30 note music box, but i can see that there are two different kinds so which one should I get? What is the difference between the two, and which one would be better for reading sheet music and making own melodies?
Hello guys. I have a question for using the notes. I know that this notes are free to use in personal purpose, but can I use them for the commercial purpose? What procedures are needed to use it commercially?
Hi guys, I've been working the last few days making a midi file for the song CariƱo by The Marias and converting it into the template, today I finally got my musicbox in the mail, I spent 8 hours writing notes, applying it to the music sheet, and punching the holes just for the intro to be good and the rest off key and terrible. This is an important project for me since when my girlfriend asked me to be her boyfriend, she gave me a music box, so for her birthday I wanted to make a custom music box with our song. The link to my template is here : https://musicboxmaniacs.com/explore/melody/carino-the-marias_123606/
And if it helps I bought the musicbox on Amazon and the specific one is here: https://a.co/d/d1JRqtJ
Any tips or help is greatly appreciated, thankyou.
