You may remember that I made a general music box guide quite some time ago - it's still on the front page. Ad I'm back with more.
After helping someone getting started with arranging a song I got the idea to create a guide on how to arrange songs for a music box. And while writing this and talking about sheet music, I also realized that not everyone would be familiar with the basics of sheet music and other basic music theory concepts. So I wrote simple guide for that too, just to cover enough basics.
I reached out to MusicBoxRox to ask if he too had some more ideas, and he also added to the arrangement guide with experiences and idea of his own.
I'd like to start recording my music box melodies and need a microphone for that, but I'm completely clueless to what kind of microphone works best for recording music box sounds. I am thinking on buying a largediaphragm condenser microphone (the Maono AU-PM422), but from my research, largediaphragm microphones are usually optimized for voices, not instruments. Does anyone have any experience when it comes to that or can even reccomend an affordable one?
I am looking for an Adobe Illustrator template for combining cricut sheets together? Can you help and advice me eventually with an example. Thank you very much in advance
I thought that a discord server aimed at music boxes would be nice to show projects in progress, and to help each other with the paper roll music box projects. I came up after the idea after helping a few people on reddit with their projects.
So if you like music boxes, and/or sometimes want some help or feedback on your paper roll music box projects, feel free to join!
This Python program automates the whole process of converting a 30-note DXF file exported from musicmanics.com to an SVG file that can be directly uploaded to and cut by Cricut Design Space. Demo is here: https://youtu.be/y3J86qpPQiQ
Please note the disclaimers, licensing info etc. there.
Other methods of doing this worked, but without Illustrator, I needed an alternative. My husband wrote this program to help me out. Hopefully his sharing it will be fun for others as well.
